I was so excited when my friend Julie suggested a cake smash for her daughter.  I had never done one before (not even for Maxwell - he hates to get dirty haha) - but I knew it would be nothing short of adorable!  Let me know if you agree ;)

The original mansion was destroyed by fire in 1906.  The Blithewold Mansion you see today is the second home and was designed by Boston architects, Kilham and Hopkinsin.  The original grounds were designed by Bristol native, John DeWolf, and were later expanded and cultivated by Marjorie, the daughter of the household.  For more information on the mansion and grounds, visit their website or better yet, go take a tour! 

I easily spent two hours roaming the grounds, looking at all the spring buds and taking in the stunning seaside view. 

This Spring, mini-sessions will be held on June 15, 2013, from 9am - 4:30pm, with slots every half hour.  Sessions will be 20 minutes long and can include any number of people. My selection of the best images will be edited and posted online for ordering prints, canvases & gifts. It's beautiful!  I'm so excited!!!

You are not mistaken, there is no longer a "B" in my name.  Technically there is - it stands for my maiden name, which I refused to abandon when I got married.  But as far as my business is concerned, it's gone and I couldn't be happier!  A huge shout out, and thank you, to Lucinda, at Chocolate Creative Design, for working her magic and creating a logo and monogram that makes me squeal with joy!  She is also the magic behind my new blog, which will be launching soon - I know, we have been waiting two years for this to happen, but I promise it is just around the corner!  I also returned to my favorite, Tara, at Stupendous Design, for my website revamp.  My previous site, also by Tara, had great bones, but it needed a little TLC, and she brought it.

A lot of my couples are planning a destination wedding, so I thought it would be fitting to showcase some REAL weddings at some fabulous wedding venues.

First up is The Towers.  Located in Narragansett (my favorite seaside locale!), The Towers is a Rhode Island icon.  The main thing that draws me to this venue is that it was designed by renowned architects McKim, Mead and White.  If you are unfamiliar with them, Google them.  I think you will be surprised at how many buildings you recognize (HINT: The Boston Public Library).   The Towers is rich in history and has survived many natural (and un-natural) disasters.  Today, it is one of Rhode Island's premier wedding venues.  Check out the website HERE for more information.

It was 2006 and I had just come back from a semester in Germany.  I was out of money and quickly returned to my job at a theater in downtown Boston.  Matt was a new performer in the show that I worked for but we quickly became friends.  It was totally innocent since we were both in relationships at the time.  We would see each other after performances, we hung out in the bar downstairs and occasionally we hung out outside of the theater.  Like the time we got together to bake an apple crisp (which was fun, but not that yummy!).    We started spending more time together in the cold winter months and through the holiday season.  Isn't it funny how Christmas music and winter blankets can bring two people together?  I remember one weekend where I asked him for a ride so I could go buy a Christmas tree at Target.  He offered to pay for the tree and I laughed at him.  It was my tree and I was going to pay for it.  But looking back on the moment, I suppose it was pretty obvious he knew that the tree would also be his.  Then one very cold winter night, we went for a walk down Commonwealth Avenue.  It was picture perfect with the Christmas lights wrapped around the trees, our hands held tight and distinctly remember being incredibly full from dinner haha!  As our romance began I had frequently mentioned how right our relationship felt, but how it made me nervous.  I was pretty sure I had met my future husband and while exciting, it was also a bit scary.  I was too nervous to even tell him I loved him.  So on this walk Matt handed me an envelope.  I could not even have guessed what was inside of it, although I tried and failed miserably.  So I sat down on bench and quickly opened it.  Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE presents?   Inside was a card, you know, like a greeting card you send to a friend on their birthday.  But this card was different... it was red, white and pink and it had a square in the middle.  Inside the square the phrase "I Love You" was written in all capital letters.  You might wonder how I could possibly remember these details 6 years later, but the truth is, I still have that card, framed, and sitting on my dresser.  When I saw that card I was speechless.  Yes, speechless.  But, I quickly looked up and responded with, "I love you too."  We both knew, we always knew, that we would be together.  We were engaged just 4 months later with a wedding the following year.  It was perfect...for us. 

I hope everyone can still tear up at their love stories years later and be so thrilled that they are on this journey with the right person.  This year, Matt and I will celebrate our 5 year anniversary.  It's not that hard to believe, as we both knew that it would come.

Sophia and Chris are expecting a little baby girl in just a few weeks.  They are excited and nervous, but I think a little more on the excited side.  Chris asked me for my best advice for a parent-to-be, which I replied by saying that I don't like to give too much advice because it's just so different for everyone.  What I did tell them is to really soak in the time when your little baby curls up and sleeps three inches from your chin and six inches from your belly button.  That my friends, was a truly beautiful time.

Congratulations Sophia and Chris on the upcoming arrival of your little baby girl.  I can't wait to meet her!

PS: A vacuum really can be a life saver ;)  Or in new parent terms...a sleep saver ;)

In the spirit of pure joy, I have Amy and Emily's beautiful Boston wedding.  Now, I don't know if the storm of December 29th got a name, but it was pretty freaking terrible.  Luckily, I got to stay inside and avoid most of it while celebrating with a couple of my favorite people.  Amy and Emily got married at The Lenox Hotel in the absolutely stunning dome room.  I had heard about it and even seen pictures, but being in the middle of it is a different story.  They took advantage of every opportunity with lighting.  It was a beautiful blue during the ceremony and the whole room glowed amber and red during the reception.  Amy and Emily had their friend, Alisa, fly in from Hawaii to officiate the ceremony and she did a beautiful job capturing the hearts of Amy and Emily.  I also want to give a shout out to mother of the bride, Kathy, who was such a pleasure to work with and get to know.  From the blessing of the rings to the reception "hat dance", this whole event was filled with love, laughter and most importantly, fun.

This past September, we had our family pictures taken by my friend and colleague, Deb.  I am so glad that we have that moment in our life captured forever.  Years from now, we will look back on it and laugh and love and squeal (because Max was just too darn cute with that red balloon!).  I truly believe in the importance of documenting life and from that I was put in touch with The Olivia Act.  The Olivia Act was set up by a Connecticut photographer as a way to encourage other photographers to give back.  We were asked to offer a free 30 minute session to a family in need who may not have gotten a professional photography session otherwise.  The family is chosen through nominations written by their family, friends and neighbors within that family's town. 

So, I am joining in and offering a free, 30 minute session to one family, along with a DVD of the images and an 8X10 print that they can frame and have in their home forever.  If you would like to nominate a Franklin/Boston area family, please e-mail me personally at aubrey@aubreybgreene.com and tell me why this family should be the ones to receive this gift.  I will be accepting nominations via e-mail until January 18, 2013.

I ended my year with two wonderful ladies, Amy & Emily, on the rooftop of the Lenox Hotel in Boston.  Yes, we were up there in a rain/snow blizzard/storm... but we made it happen and it too was amazing.  So here is your sneak peek for the week.  Enjoy!

So I just wanted to pop on to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

And so, as the time for vocalizing our thanks comes, I would like to say that I am thankful to my business team of assistants, editors and designers.  I am sure I don't thank you enough, but I am truly grateful to have you all in my life.  I am eternally thankful to my husband for making sure I look nice before I walk out the door and for having trust and patience while I continue to build this business ;)  I am also incredibly thankful to have my son in my life.  I could not imagine a day without his laughter, his hugs and of course, his cute little feet running all over the place.  He makes me see the bigger picture in life and reminds me to have fun.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

So, while I was an RA, I had this really awesome boss named Amy Beth, and almost 10 years later, I got to photograph her wedding.  Amy Beth and Chris got married In West Boylston at The Manor with Chris's son Gavin at their side and family and friends all around them.  There were even some other Wentworth Res. Life folks there!  Amy Beth and Chris were very casual and relaxed about their wedding and the love and excitement that filled the room the whole night was truly amazing.  I was honored to be a part of it. 

So much love to Amy Beth, Chris and Gavin!  You have such a wonderful family and I wish you many years of happiness and of course, trips to Disney ;)

You know what else is coming up?  Amy and Emily's December wedding!  I am so excited to see them again up in Boston at the Lenox hotel.  But first, we had to meet up for their engagement shoot.  We headed out to Minute Man Park a couple weeks ago and we could not have asked for a better day.  And with this big chill headed our way, I am going to fondly look back on this amazing day to remember the last of the warmth.
